Call to Conviction is an intermediate-level course designed to equip telecommunicators with the skills needed to effectively assist a human trafficking victim who calls 911. Building on a foundational understanding of human trafficking, this course focuses on enhancing knowledge about the specific questions to ask and how to approach each situation with a victim-centered, trauma-informed mindset. Through a combination of lecture and collaborative group work, the training emphasizes the critical role that dispatchers from fire, EMS, and law enforcement play in interacting with trafficking victims, ensuring a coordinated and compassionate response across all emergency services.

Objectives/Reason to Take the Course:

1. Enhance the ability to identify human trafficking indicators during phone interactions with victims, witnesses, or third-party callers.

2. Understand the various forms of human trafficking, including labor and sex trafficking, to better recognize complex scenarios.

3. Clarify the telecommunicator's role in human trafficking cases, including responsibilities in initial response and ongoing communication.

4. Strengthen documentation and communication skills to ensure accurate, legally sound records and proper transfer of information to responding agencies.
